Craftsmanship

You want quality, and that is what we do - from a door handle to the castings of the wheels. In addition, if possible, we want to use sustainable products and also support our local economy by using local businesses and suppliers. We have no problem with making adjustments to the design to reflect our clients' wishes.

Chassis and Wheels

The Chassis and Wheels

The wheels on our huts are copied from a traditional design of six spokes.

All our huts have 24-inch (610mm) diameter wheels - all foundry cast.

All chassis are steel box section, welded at a local engineering company.

The under-floor is protected with a weatherproof bitumen coating, with solid oak floorboards on top attached on joists and finished with a hard-wearing matt varnish.

The Roof

The Roof

All huts have a traditional curved roof, made from galvanised corrugated steel and rolled in a mill to achieve the correct curve.

The roof is covered in a durable PVC coating and painted black, or according to the colour scheme chosen.

The galvanised steel is backed by a waterproof membrane, insulated with wool and mounted on curved rafters .This allows a strong but lightweight roof structure.

Internal cladding is tongue and groove throughout.

The ends of the roof fascia are covered with feather-edge boarding and painted black.

Craftsmanship

The Framework

The walls are built from a hand-made frame, securely glued and screwed together. A waterproof membrane is used between the exterior cladding and the wool insulation to keep the hut waterproof and damp-proof. All walls are internally clad with tongue and groove.

The exterior finish is galvanised corrugated steel with a PVC finish, or oak or cedar wood cladding as an optional extra, painted with Farrow and Ball paint unless differently specified.

Floors are solid oak planks with a durable matt varnish finish.

Windows and Doors

Windows and Doors

We build our own windows and doors.

The traditional layout on the Ashton and Hampton huts is for a single stable door and one small and one large opening window.

All door fixings and window furniture are traditional styles. Each hut is fitted with door and window security.

Clients may choose which side to place the large window, or may choose to have a second large window as an optional extra.

The Hannington is fitted with double opening doors as standard, two larger opening windows and two small windows. The finish is as before.

Electrics & Power

Electrics and Power

All standard huts have a 240V plug on a trailing lead, made to the length required; a 16-amp connection point, a residual current device (RCD) power protection unit in a small wall box; two power sockets; and wall lights.

The Hannington has additional lights and power sockets.

Of course, the client may wish to have alternative arrangements, and computer network ports, telephone sockets, extra sockets, alternative lights, ceiling lights and so on can all be specified at the point of ordering as optional extras.
